AC Stinks!

Gosh, the air coming from my AC stinks. I have had this problem for a couple years now, just too lazy to get it fixed. Since it was a hot day today, me and a couple of female classmates hopped into my car to get some grub. Since they like AC instead of open windows, I turned it on. I was hoping that the smell wouldnt show up, but it did. It smelled like strong urine WTF! I checked my air filter and everything looks fine, I looked all around my engine to see it there are any dead animals stuck in there, none. Whats the problem here?

that must of really impressed your female classmates

sorry, in a situation like that its hard for me not to laugh.

maybe something died in your air vents mate, have you checked in there???

have you tried leaving the fan on for a while to try and flush out the smell???

you should take your car to an ac specialist and get it checked out.

^^Yeah when I had just fixed my a/c that thing smelled like realy strong piss. Over time it came out though. I remember readina couple threads on how to kill mildew in your a/c or something like that. You put the a/c on heat and then tunr it on to make air from outside come in and then put it to curculate air or something like that. Search for it.

welcome to the animal world, whereby the mark their area by marking it with piss.

on a serious note, if you look under the front passanger side dashboard, there is a container about 5inches x 6 inches, where the bypass of a/c water is released to the outside. Look at the hose that runs from the box to the floor of the car, then outside of the car. pull that hose to see if it is clocked.

very likely that container/hose might be clocked

Do what I did and put fabreeze through the little vents from the outside window. Worked like a charm.

Maybe if you change your filter in your glovebox? Other than, it could be the mold in your hose.

The smell does come from moisture in the heater case or the cabin filter is very dirty. The factory filters are made of a papery type of material that does not reduce mildew.Try healthwiseautofilter.com i use it in all my customers vehicles it has lots of activated carbon that reduces toxins and odours it's more money but works fantastic. All my customers ask for it when it's time to change so they must be happy.Hope this helps
