Hi all, Im a newd here so bear with me. Just bought wife a 97 Camry 133,000 mil. Had a few things that I replaced because of thumping noise when hitting even small bumps. First was all the struts, then lower ball joints, then front tires. But STILL have the thump? Could the upper front strut mounts cause this? This is the first FWD car I've ever worked on so not sure what Im doing, mostly deal with 4wd Dodge trucks. Thanks ya'll.
Well, this is just a guess, but I think I've got the same problem with my car. When you replaced the struts, did you happen to look at the bushings on the front control arms? They wear out pretty easily, mine makes a popping/thump noise when I go over bumps and I think it's the bushings. This is actually a pretty common problem from what I hear.
Yeah, it might be a control arm bushing, or a sway bar link.

Id guess sway bar links. Hope you replaced the upper strut mounts when you did the front struts. Thats a common problem area on these cars that will cause thumping noises over bumps.
until someone gets back with you, i would just call the local auto store and the dealer...it's only a phone call?
I think i have the same problem...but i think i'll live wiith it until i can need a new set of tires.
