Has anyone ever replaced just the flexible component on the front exhaust pipe without having to buy the complete pipe/cat converter? Is there a repair kit available that would allow me just to "splice" the flexible-braided steel fluted pipe? Thanks for your help.

Buy new flex pipe piece, sawzall old piece off, weld new piece on. If you can't do that, go to a shop. They'll do it for you. It should be cheap as hell. The part isn't $15.

I've had this done. Dealer wanted $350 to replace the entire thing. Went to redneck shop and they replaced just the flex part plus labor for $15.

Replaced my Flex Pipe for $80 with installation.
