...lately we've all been seening a good deal of RedPhoenix's mods... he has a "get up and do it" attitude, and it's caused me to start working again... first off, my heat shield on my exhaulst... I was going to powder coat it, but his came out so good, I painted mine... The entire process took about 1 hour... and that included sanding, preping, removal, installing, going to wally world for paint and Mcy Ds for some grub... heres the outcome...
still wired from accomplishing that so fast, I decided to paint my center console... even though it may look done, it's just part of it...
the holes by the E Brake are getting painted Silver (with metallic flake) and I've ordered my silver Microsuede for the arm rest, and the hole in the E Brake... also the area around the Shifter, Ashtray, cup holder, and cubby hole will be the same Silver... but I wanted the blue to "cure" in the FL sun for a couple of days so I dont ruin it with tape or prep... but I'll keep it posted when its done... I still need to get my Levoc Shifter...
How did yall prep the heat shield for paint and can i use just standard engine paint?
mine wasn't that bad... so i grabbed some 1000 grit sand paper (avoiding with swirls) and sanded it out... then wiped it down with a damp towel, dried it, and did about 4-5 light coats and 1-2 heavy coats.
