Please help I cannot pass smog .My CEL light has come on recently .I have taken my 96 toyota camry to Auto zone to get the code checked.The code according to the employee meant that I needed a new egr valve.Is there any other related parts that could be the cause of the CEL light. I have allready cleaned the egr valve out. How about the back pressure transducer or the EGR solenoid I want to stat with the less expensive part first to see if that solves my problem. I am asking help from you all, who are the pros at this.

Yes, most likely, VSV(Vacuum Switching Valve).

Why not take it to a real shop that will diagnose it. Then you can always buy the part and replace it yourself. It'll probably be cheaper than guessing and throwing parts at it.

Take it off and clean it. Then reset the ECU (Pull the EFI fuse out and put it back in) Most of the time it goes back to working.

I did the cleaning part... then the light came back on after a week... then i got the ECU scanned and it turned out i need the vaccum modulator replaced... so the shop say...

EDIT: but today the CEL came back on again..WTF!!
