9005 9006 question

I was doing all night the search and have learned many things. One thing I have to ask you guys why do many people put 9005 bulb into 9006 bulb slot or do they actually swap the harness. If I put 9005 bulb into 9006 slot will it still act as a high beam when turned on thank you. Does the 9006 slot make it low beam when I put the 9005 high beam into it.

...it's explained pretty well in the faq. You mod the bulb so u can fit in the slot. It's just an overall brighter cosmetic mod

when you do the mod, all your doign is using a high wattage bulb in the low beam. all the mod is trimming a 9005 bulb and using a 65w bulb. no, it will not turn on if you use the high beam. quad headlights have 2 different switches for high and low beam, high beam will turn on the bulb for hihg beam and vice versa for low beam. improvements =

...tho despite the ease of modifying the 9005 bulb and using it in the 9006 harness, it has a tendency to jiggle around just a bit, and in my experience, I melted both of the stock 9006 harnesses that way....

so as a simple fix and to make my life easier in general, I just changed both the stock 9006 harnesses to 9005 harnesses, and now I just buy a couple of sets of 9005 to sit around since I can use them in any of my lights without modification
