3rd Generation NSomniac's Crazy Projects: DIN Logo

Im always creating crazy things, either for the car, home, music, for collecting dust on shelves or just for the hell of it..... So I'd thought I'd share some with u guys.. so I want to put a DVD player in the bottom half of my double DIN slot.. right now all I have is a cubby hole with a broken door... I want to put the disc drive of the Xbox in there sometime....but I need to get the Xbox first right... well my Kenwood V907 Brain went out... and as im constantly troubleshooting.. I think... if this thing isn't going to work for a while.. I need something better to look at ... I have a good deal of plexi just laying around (a friend of mine's mom owns a shop and Throws away Large amounts of scrap - like 3'X4' slabs) so I thought I'd fill in that bottom half and rid of the broken door... First i rip it out, tear off the door, and cut the "box" that the door was attached to, nice and smooth. then using the door as a template, I cut my plexi (1/25")... then I painted the inside of the container with chrome (riiiiiiight) paint.. finally a good use for this rip off paint. I then doodle up a Toyo Logo on 3" tape.. I apply the tape to a sheet of regular glass (it's amazing what I have just laying around in my lil shop - spare bedroom turned into garage). This way i can cut out the logo with a razor like you would a design with tint.

then I remove on side of the protective paper off the plexi, and apply the "taped" logo. I apply a couple of coats of my Fusion Blue that's in my car.. when flipped over you can see the taped logo with a clean glossy look on top.. then i removed the tape revieling a toyota logo hole in the paint.. of course I cover this with mirror tint, giving me a mirrored toyota logo... of course this new logo is only tinted with nothing behind it.....

allowing me to put a light behind it to be seen at night... since I didn't use those color changing 194 LEDs, I thought I would put them to use. with very few dabs of hot glue, I apply the new logo piece back to the inner chrome cubby hole, and remount.. nice lil clean logo, that lights up at night.. something you wont see anywhere else.. I tried to get pics of the nighttime view... but the LED isn't that bright (yes - a waste of money) so later I'll wire up some of my 8000mcd LEDs that will fade from white to blue.. now as much as I like this.. I want to make more, with different logos, and maybe back it with magnets to become interchangable...

Heres just a crazy N Somniac project... I encourage others not to be affraid to try anything...

I've already got an idea to replace it... I dont know if any of you have seen the scrolling LED belt buckles out there (6 programable phrases, scrolls left to right or up and down), but I ordered a blue one last night on eBay, and guess what, it's a perfect fit (a friend brought over her pink one last night)... so it'll be the same idea, but instead of just lights coming out of no where..... funny phrases...

I plan on making a TN logo just for fun...
