I have H&R springs on stock sturts...
The ride is very bouncy
I seriously advise who ever changes their springs to change struts as well!
As for alignment, My alingment is not as good as it was before, but it is always good to align your car after chaning suspension.
Boyet.. Invest in some struts if you are going to get it installed by a shop, your going to need them sooner or later, might as well buy now and save on labour..
BTW - the fronts are not too bad to install yourself, I have yet to attempt the rears
i wasnt planning on getting aftermarket struts... i was planning on installing them on a stock struts.... lankanprince, now that you mention it.... maybe i should get new struts too.
the only struts i found for my car (96 5SFE) on the web is KYB gas shocks. is this any good... i know ive read a lot about tokico/h&r combo is the best but there is no tokico for my car right now.
I'm bringing my car back up, putting the stock springs back in, today. I'm getting too paranoid with all the fuss about stock struts with lowering springs. When I decide to lower my car back, i will definitely have new aftermarket struts to go with them.
The shop's name is Auto Muffler & Express.. damn i forget the name. The guy's name is Sam. Its at Ellesmere & Warden in Scarborough, right at the intersection, but you need to go north on Warden and take the first right. There are two entrances to the plaza, take the second one which will take u right to the back garage.
Oh yeah, store's name's Auto Express & Muffler Shop, 1529 WARDEN AVE, (416) 293-5518.
Boyet, are your struts sealed?
If they are you cant use tociko, you have to use KYB...
I have a 95 and mine are sealed so im going to have to get those KYB struts...
Let us know how it goes..
My ride with stock struts and springs is not too bad, but I have to slow down over any bump in the road, if not, the car bounces a little.
I'm saving up for those struts right now and I have heard that the difference with aftermarket struts and lowering springs is like night and day...

Wrong. If his struts are sealed, he can use Tokico and KYB. Elegant's riding on Tokicos. Where's bluemeanie when we need him???
Straight from the mouth of Tokico.
V6 and i4 fit the same.
92-94 use non sealed.
95-96 use sealed and different mounts than the 92-94.
the excption being most 94 models (Jap. and Amer.) built after october 94 use the same mounts and sealed struts as the 95-96 models.
This applies for all gen3 Camrys. Both V6 and i4's of a given year use the same parts.
The KYB's ride fine, just a bit harsher than OEM. When going over bumps, everything in the car rattles though. Although I've never driven Elegant's car, I've rode in it before...the ride is just as smooth except on bumps as well. Maybe his plush leather seats are masking the harshness? KYB strut inserts are cheap as dirt, like $40US from Tirerack.
The general consensus out there will say that Tokico's are firmer (and more expensive) than KYB's...there is ONE person out there who has had both struts and swears that KYBs are firmer (F1Chris?)
I haven't had one passenger complain that my car was too firm or rough... 8)
