Car not starting right away

I have a 1995 camry which refuses to start immediately. I m a novice at cars, and new to the forum. I always have to hit the gas pedal while turning the ignition key for the car to start over!

Wht could be possibly wrong?

If yours is a 2.2L I4 maybe the temperature sensor. It increases the fuel injector pulses for a cold start.

What do I have to do to fix it? Or see if that is the problem?

The V6 has a cold start injector, the I4 uses the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor to cause the injectors to spit more fuel at start up. What engine do you have?

Eh... you mean I4... there's no such thing as a V4.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

you also may need to clean your throttle body, or even upgrade your grounding

I am reading a lot on this(through repair manuals and such) so I just need little guidelines.

What did you mean by upgrading the grounding?and cleaning the throttle body? (Layman terms might help)

And yes, my engine is I4.

Also, if there is a hole in the coolant box(topside)..can the coolant evaporate? It is empty and I didnt notice any leaks.

Thanks y'll!

factory grounding wires are tiny, upgrade the "big three" with 8ga wire may improve your problem
1) Battery negative to chassis
2) Alternator to battery positive
3) Chassis to engine
http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/u...=5;t=007801;p=

and heres a tutorial for cleaning the TB:

got these from doing a quick search on the forums here

good luck!
