2nd Generation help regarding inner tie rod

This other day, I went to see Mr and Mrs Sears and they got me (for a price) a set of new tires (Michelin). The dude who changed my tires said that I needed some new inner tie rod, and he said that for $300, he could do the job. I told him that I was not ready to do that yet.
So My question is " can I do the job myself?" except the Whell aligment. and quesion number two, where to get the parts (except overpriced toyota dealer).

Guys, no only this forum rocks, but the last time I had a problem (check; "Stop light not working!!") from a few weeks ago, I saved a lot of money, and I got great help from you guys
Thanks, Merci, Gracias, Danke.

PS: My 1987 Camry has 84500 original miles

yes, you can do it yourself....but I wouldn't suggest it without the use of an impact gun, and some basic experience working on your car in general though...it will probably take you most of a day also if you've never done it before...I think it's 2 hours shop time if you get it done

you should be able to buy an aftermarket inner tie-rod for about half the price of the oem one, but I can't help you on where from tho, I'm in canada

from the sounds of it though, I think you should let somebody else do it.
But not THAT guy tho. it shouldn't cost 300USD to get it done.....you should be able to get it done for about 200USD parts included at an independent dealer...

for 300, you should be able to get it done at a dealership

and that's some low miles for an 87

You should be able to find an import shop in San Fran who will do it for $60 labour+parts. Don't pay more that $150.
