I have a 1992 Camry v6 xle that I truly love but, I seem to be having some overheating problems.
I have had the waster pump and thermostat changed out not long ago. I also have had the radiatior flushed 3-4 times. I would say that I buy antifreeze at least 3 times a month.
Pour it in and drive to work (about 10min.) and it's gone. I have checked the radiator for any visable damage and found nothing.
I really don't want to send it off to the junk yard yet!!!
Has anyone had this happen and how did you resolve the issues?
Why not take it to a radiator shop?
they can isolate the problem in 15min.
U might have a leak but you are not seeing it.
I took mine to a radiator shop, replaced my radiator and it was good as new when it came to that problem.
My friends told me that the radiator was one of the easiest things to change. So if they isolate the problem, u might want to change it urself. A radiator might run you $60-$90. I paid about $180 for the new radiator installed.
and if you are that worried about overheating, maybe go for an oversized radiator to keep the engine extra cool.... my $0.02 if you are that worried about it happening again

coolant doesn't just disappear. Either it's leaking externally (hoses, pump, rad) or internally (head ). What color is your exhaust fume? What's the condition of the engine oil? How's the car run in general?
If you can't find it, probably blew a head gasket.

Does the car seem to have a lot of smoke, actually steam coming form the exhaust. It is normal for it to steam on startup until it warms and depending on teh temp and humidity in the air. Like someone else asked does the car seem to be running poorly when you are driving it or does everything seem normal besides the over heating. Have you checked the oil to make sure it still looks like oil and not a oil water mix. Of course if it was getting into the oil I would think it would have already blown the engie due to lack of lubrication. You need to start by having a mechanic or yourself doa pressure test on the cooling system. I am not sure if you can rent the tester at Autozone or somewhere similar to that, but it is farily easy to determine where the coolant is going. You take the cap off hook the tester up and pump it til you hit a certain pressure. Then you jsut wait til you see coolant leaking. Then you figure out where it is going. Once you find a leak fix that problem and then do it again til the sytem holds pressure.
