Trd Supercharger

Would a supercharger destroy a good running engine with 150k, mainly highway, miles on it. How much boost could I run, what should be done the engine before supercharging?

Do a compression and leak down test first.

You can argueably boost upto 5.5psi safely (vs. 4psi stock) running stock fuel trim and internals. With further upgrades (piggyback, fuel, head, bottom end), a select few have pushed the envelope going 7-10psi while hitting a few hurdles. Then again, ppl have blown knock sensors at 4psi. You feelin' lucky?

Maybe I'm retarded, but you can't just "blow" a knock sensor...

I'm one of those guys who had knock sensor problems with the 4psi. I had to replace both. I'm running 6psi now but will a few more mods. I highly recommend the fuel line upgrade from Jim@foreignaffairs.com before changeing your 4psi pulley.

Do a full engine tune up and compression leak test.

Hard to say. I have other mod in addition to the supercharger. Plus you need to tune it correctly, otherwise you might actually loose power. Look at the following link for HP gains on the TRD supercharger.

Holly smokes almost 300HP at the flywheel in a Camry. Talking sleeper... I would much love a great handling Camry with 300HP under the hood over a GTO. I like sleepers.. So what do you mean about tuning it correctly... Looks like I'm putting my RC hobby on hold to get my car up to 300HP!!! I'm excited.......

OK I have another question about HP numbers. According to the HP chart for the Supercharger the HP comes in a 6000RPM and the torque at 4400RPM. My car never run in those RPM ranges.. Does this mean that even with a Super charger My car would seem stock or would there be a noticible HP gain throught the RPM range? I think the highest my RPMs ever been was around 4k maybe a spike or 2 higher... Can the Trainy handle 300HP? I'm looking at maybe going with 6psi... What are the performance numbers at 4psi?

Thanks...

They are just saying those are the numbers @ max RPM... You will feel the performance throughout the whole powerband.. Not like a tubocharger where you feel lit kick in when it spools up
