4th Generation Smoked Tails

Alright people, heres the deal. I searched for smoked tails, and didn't find more then jack.

So here are my questions...

How do you get them done?

How legal are they?

How well are do the lights show through?

BTW i have a Gen 4...

P.S. Sry if I sound a lil grumpy...rentz are making me get ready for ACTs like there is no tomorrow.

1. on ebay, etc or paint them with Night Shades, or model car window tint from a hobby store and some clear coat.(looks very close to the same)
2. Depends on if they want to give you a hard time. With all of the new cars out now with factory tail lights that are either dark or clear, law enforcement can cause issues but don't usually
3. Shows thru fine. Do a search, there are pics on here somewhere

4. Get back in there and study, I expect nothing less than a perfect score out of you and remember you can always do better. Good luck with the test and take it as many times as you can.

Let me know what you ended up doing with your tails, ive got a black 4th gen and i want to get mine as close to black as possible. I'd suggest going to the junkyard and nabbing a spare to practice on first though. I hear the night shades work pretty well, but ive never seen them or tried them myself. Good luck on the ACT, but dont worry about it too much, i took it last year and it was easy as hell, i got a 28.

Out here in St Kitts the guys are into mixing a very small amount of black paint with clear coat and spraying their taillights. It gives the shaded look and the lights show though quite well even in daylight.

Yeah, I recently smoked out my bumper lenses and center tail light area on my 92 using a smoke spray, (don't know the brand name it had all japanese writing... )The result was similar to an SE except with hidden brake lights/reverse lights/camry name) I feel it looks cleaner than same color painted scheme. I found mine at a local speed shop. The good thing about the spray is you can adjust how dark you want it and it is totally
removeable. I am looking to post some pics soon in honor of hitting the 200k milestone.

hey, Trdkamuri...think that you can show me some night pics?

also, xavier, what i'm planning to do is get my car painted black, then put on the smokes, giving them a "stealth" look...is your suggestion going to accomplish that look?

thanks!

P.S. I took the ACT today!
