My new ride!

Hey guys,

I think I have my new ride in site, 1997 or 1998 ( can't remember) Lexus ES300. It's in perfect shape, my Grandpa is selling me his for a good price to help me out, so things are looking good.

So now I need help.

1.) Can I put my big brake kit on the ES300 from a Gen 3 camry? Pretty sure I can, asking to make sure. ABS won't affect anything with it will it?

2.) What are common problems with the ES300?

3.) What performance upgrades are there? Particularly is the supercharger compatible?

4.) Will Rims from a gen 3 camry fit the ES300, offset wise? Or will they look funny?

I know these are mostly Lexus based questions, but since I'm a camry guy I had to post here as well.

Thanks!

Well on those years of LEXUS look for a OIL sludge but since it is you granpas car I figure he did the oil chance on time. Check if the timing was replaced also. I would personally rather go with a 1999 ES300 than 1998 ES300 since in 1999 they put the VVT-I engine that was not available in Camry up until 2002. Also common thing that goes out on those cars is LCD on the radio seem to get burned after a while. One nice modification for you to do is replace the stock 1998 taillight with a nice red/clear taillights that came on 2000/2001 models they just bolt on but looks waaaaaaaaaay better, and if you have extra dough get the xenon headlights that were an option on 2000/2001 models they are awesome. Other than that great car and can be serviced at your local TOYOTA delaer since they are cheaper than Lexus dealer and they have the Lexus manuals.

Well 1999 Gen 4 Camry does not have the same engine as the 1999 Lexus ES300. In 1999 Lexus ES300 comes with a VVT-I engine that was not available in Gen 4 camrys.
