Alright guys and gals, could use a bit of help here. Been having issues with my auto shifter not always showing the gear i'm in in the dash. IE...if i'm in drive, it may not light up the "D" but if I were to pull back on the shifter towards "2nd" then it would light up, same with reverse. So I knew this had to deal with the shifter cable. Read my Haynes, did some searching on the board here and just went and worked on it in the garage tonight. When I got under the hood the nut and cable were near the top of the shift selector *on the transmission*. I tightened the tension by putting it near the bottom of the grove now, yet I'm still getting the same problem just not as bad now. Now if I were to shift, it doesn't light at first, but I can just bump the shifter in the car and it lights up. So I'm hoping someone here can give me a little bit more advice here as to what may still be going on?

Just made a thread like this i have a similar problem, if its in reverse and you touch the shifter back the gauge cluster "R" comes off and so do the reverse lighs in the back, and if i push it forward a little it comes back on, didnt get time to open anything up yet, but i will try tomorrow

so does anyone have some advice on this? Is there anywhere else I can tighten the cable that I've missed? Or is it something I've done wrong that you might be more aware of?
