3S-GE and GTE

What is the quality and brand of the turbo that comes with the 3S-GTE? Is it a better deal to buy the 3S-GE and install a "high-grade" turbo and tap the oil lines and what-not yourself? any info appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Depending on what year 3S-GTE you get and if its J-spec or American... The 1st Gen is a CT26, the J-spec. 2nd Gen is a Ceramic turbine Blade CT26, the J-spec. 3rd Gen is a Ceramic turbine blade CT20B... All turbos are pretty good for stock. The CT26 max out at 18psi , anything higher than that it goes out of its effeciency... CT20B is good for 20psi of boost, anything higher than that it goes out of its effeciency.

Your best bet if you want to go turbo ... Just buy a 3S-GTE because its already turbo'ed from factory and you have the good compression, for the turbo. A 3S-GE has a higher compression and you wont be able to run more than 10psi and thats intercooled...
