Well, I finally got time to resize some pictures, so here they are. The paint is dupont "Blue Starburst Metallic." I really like the color, but this was my first time doing body work and my friends first time painting a whole car. All in all, it's pretty decent considering that. Right now it's definetly a 20/20 car . We'll fix it this summer when we have more time.
-just before primer
-primer
-shaved trunk
-Shaved molding, ooooo smooth
We still have to do the bumpers...
I also got 20% tinting and I'm reworking the interior while it's all out.
What ya think?

Reason: forgot a picture...
i'm going to sand out, primer and repaint my camry in the near future. i have a terrible dent in the drivers side (US) front fender, and i desperately need to pull that out and get everything all situated. i was looking towards a midnight blue or something of that nature. i dont wanna deal with any red colors, my exhaust leak and the cai i'm going to install wont deal too well with the inforcements lol. i was thinking maybe some sort of green (hunter?) or perhaps just a plain white.
your paintjob from the pics looks very nice, how did you paint it? spray cans? i'm on a cheap budget, but either way i would love to experiment on my car by painting it myself. there's nothing better than doing work on your car...and having it turn out somewhat satisfactory hahaha. i was thinking of going all-out import look with a primer-black job (since i pulled my hubcaps). i want to turn this machine into a showcar for sheer impression-factor that it's just an '89 camry and can whoop some civic ass-- as i've demonstrated on local roads hahaha. those four-bangers got nothin on my sexy six
that looks great. just out of curiosity, you did put some kind of metal backer in the slots for the side mouldings right? straight bondo will crack out of there. (founds out hard way on terrys camry)
anyway. i love the color! nice job

As far as bumpers, we did some custom fiberglassing/filling on the front, so it wont be stock, but it wont be like a kit. I'm not a huge fan of body kits, plus they don't do well around here.
As far as how I did it...it's done the right way, with all the real stuff. It has 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. The supplies were about $350 for just the paint stuff...then there is all the filler and sand paper (this car had severe hail damage...) and mountain dew that needs to be factored in. Good paint jobs are not cheap...
I really like the blue. It's the factory color of the mid 90's dodge vipers, I almost went silver, but I'm really glad that I went with the blue.
and yes, we welded in strips of metal where the moldings were, so there is about 1/8in (most places are thinner than that) fiberglass filler.
nice paint job where did your friend learn how to paint like that? i learned at DCTC but i havent painted a car yet im just 2 lazy ive been painting laptops and also full computers, LOL
