lower stamped-steel pan

The oil pan on the V6 is a two part assembly, with an aluminum casting attached to the block and transaxle, and a lower stamped-steel pan section at the bottom.

I ordered the lower section to replace the pan that has the drain threads stripped.

I didn't take off the pan but looking at it from under the car I noticed that the threads are aluminum.

Questions:

Is there a aluminum fitting of threads fused or welded to the lower steel section oil pan ?
The reason I ask is because there are two types of metal, Steel (pan) and aluminum (treads)

or

Are the threads part of the aluminum casting attached to the block and transaxle section ?
I doubt that this is it.

Can someone let me know ?

THX
