I put 225/60/15 on my gen 3 V6 LE with stock steel rims, worked great.
When I went to replace them, I actually had some fool in a tire shop tell me there was NO WAY that size would fit on my car. I had to walk him outside and show him the ones I had on there and how worn out they were (proving they had been on there for 30k miles), he didn't believe me until he saw it. Then he went nuts trying to search for rub marks on the inner fender muttering something about no way they were on there without rub. He was wrong again
^^^your lucky i asked the guys i got tires from to put on the wider ones ( had bad traction in winter ) then they acted like smartasses saying its not a ferrai and blah blah....i just said fuck it

this is good information, considering i was told 225's would have rubbed, now im going to bring up another point, with getting wider tires, i'd like a little less sidewall, could 60 or 55 series tires work without making the speedo out of sync?

bluefusion: I would think that keeping the stock rims and lowering the profile of the tire would throw it off a little. I don't know the stock tire profile, so not really sure how much it would throw it off. I could be wrong though.

if you go from a 65 series down to a 55 series on the stock camry v6 rims(205/65/RH15) to (225/55/RH15) your speedometer will be off exactly 1.8 MPH which is 3.026 % too fast. The overall diameter of the tires/rims only increases 2.95%
I really don't see the need to worry about your speedometer being thrown off enough to be a problems/hazard.

if you use what they call puls sizing you should not have much trouble with speedo if it concerns you.
If stock is 205/65 you should be able to go to 215/60 and basically have the same size tire. 225/55 etc. same if you want to go to a more narrow tire. 195/70 should be pretty much the same size tire. Even saying that tires from different manufactureres that are the same size on the sidewall may not actually be the same size. You dont find it as much in passenger tires as you do flotation size truck tires. You can have 2 31" tires and one could actually be 30" and the other 32". It can happen on passenger tires but not as much ususally.
