egr blockoff thoughts? (5s)

I was just looking through a couple EGR system diagrams and realized that it seems the EGR valve's bottom vacuum line is the actual line that circulates exhaust gases.

If this is the case, could someone confirm it?

If so, I'm thinking of unplugging the vacuum line into the bottom of the EGR and simply using a vacuum cap with either a zip-tie or small hose clamp to tie it off. I'm guessing this method would not throw a CEL since the EGR is still in place and receiving vacuum.

thanks guys.

I searched "EGR", and found this one ... there's a couple more I think.

In addition to your mod your might have to substitute a fixed resistor for the EGR temp sensor.

you would still need to bypass the temp sensor. anyways just pull the whole system out and make some block off plates

yup.

The point of the thread is to not tear it out, but get around it.
I want it to remain in place so I can pass visual inspection. I can lean the shit out of the car with my S-AFC II to make it pass emissions.
