my stock 93 camry doenst have a power antenna, right? how am i supposed to tell?
my car still needs an antenna, and im about to go to the junkyard and search.
can someone please let me know if i have a power antenna or not?
: >
also,
do i just need to buy the mast?-whatever that is. or do i need to buy the whole thing?
thanks!!!!
if you have power antenna, when you turn on the radio, the power antenna will extract from the right rear of the car.
another way to find out,
open trunk,
remove carpet on the right hand side of the trunk.
see if there is a motor, about the size of your fist but flatter.
do a search, somebody already asked about this a few weeks ago.
instructions were given by other TN members on what to do
as long as it is at least a LE trim level you should have the power antennae. If it is a DX you will ahve the manual antennae that is mounted inthe A-pillar on the drivers side. You have to pull it out by hand.

PLEASE DO NOT GET RID OF THE OLD TN AS WE KNOW IT.
yeah, do a search, there's a thread of removing the power antenna and replacing it with a stubby rubber type.
The power antenna needs constant maintanence to keep working properly.

I love power antennas but I hate the lenght of them. I just think power antennas give the car a more appealing car to me than stubby ones or manual ones.
I love the way my antenna is hidden under my hood. It probably wouldn't be hard to mod it to such a setup.
i think it is not in your hood.
most gen4 cars have the antenna in the back window..
i maybe wrong with ur limited edition car but it should be the same
I see a lot of gen3 power antennas that are stuck. I think people neglect all that junk that may build up at the segment ends. If you take a paper towel and just wipe the antenna once every six months or so, it should work fine. My '94 antenna is still strong, although since I hardly ever listen to the radio, I installed a switch on my dash to prevent the antenna from going up when I listen to CD's.

i wipe it down every time i wash the car...lol...it's stuck now in up position which is fine for me as long as i get decent reception. In my 96, if you switch to the cassette, the attennae goses down...i assumed in cars with cd players they would go down also...i guess not.

My second antenna just died. I think I'll try the rubber stubby one this time.

My aftermarket headunit is stupid in that respect. It doesn't switch off the remote turn on signal when I switch to CD. Oh well.
I have an Original Toyota Antenna, 4 months old, my mechanic put it in, without me telling him. If somebody wants it, I will let it go reasonably cheap. I will convert to Stubby, my daughter is inheriting my 3rd Gen and powered antennas are a pain.
