Car is squealing like crazy and it is not the brakes. Help

Well I have had this squealing noise for a while. I assumed it was the rotors because I installed brake pads 4000miles ago. The car squeals when I depress the brakes and when rolling at low speeds. It was driving me crazy, so..... I had the rotors resurfaced, installed new pads and applied antisqueal to the back of the pads. Well, the car still squeals, but not as much as before. What else could it be? Does the center bearing that supports the intermediate shaft have to be lubricated? Could the sound be coming from that cv joints or hub bearings? CV boots are not broken and there is no play when you pull on the axles.

Maybe the splash guard behind the rotor got bent and is hitting the rotor when it turns. I've seen some american made products that can trap a small stone or pebble in there too and it makes a squeeling noise.

Also the half axles for the various models of the camry are different, and the ones without ABS teeth has a metal dirt/debris stopper shroud that will not fit into an ABS steering knuckle without squeeling for example. I was wondering if this dirt/debris shround on your CV joint has become dislodged or trapped some dirt somehow. You would neen to pull the half axle out of the steering knuckle to inspect it.

Is there a way to test to see if the bearings are bad? I would hate to shell out more money and it ends up not curing the problem.

he only real way to check the wheel bearings is to jack the car up and grab the tire at the top and bottom as you are looking at it. There are specs as to how much it should move and I dont know what it is because they are wanting you to use a micrometer probably to test it the way Toyota says to. But you should not ahve any discernable movement when you move the tire back and forth while holding it on top and bottom. If you do have a lot of movement it is time to replace. The only thing is in my experience you typically do not get spuealing when the wheel bearings go out. Normally you will have waht sounds like a grinding at the wheel that has the bad bearing.

Yep.

And also when the bearing starts to go, sometimes you experience a vibration at a particular speed range, i.e. 80-85 km/hr for example.

You sure its not just cheap brake pads? One of my friends got those lifetime brake pads from mineke and those things squeal like a bastard. cheap pads=higher metal content=more squealing

Sometimes when the wheel bearing is bad you can hear it while driving and feel it. I know in my trooper one of the wheel bearings are bad and you can hear it and also feel the vibrations from it.

I have this same problem with squealing which sounds like brake pads are low. My fronts are still meaty so maybe it's the rear shoes? Do the shoes have those indicators on it? If it's not that then my brake pads are probably just causing the squeal sound even though they are OEM. My wheel bearings are fine since I don't notice any vibrations or hear it while driving. Plus there's not really any movement when I move the wheel side to side. Squeals only when I come to a stop slowly.
