Think I figured out CEL cause. How to turn off?

I don't mean to reset it. I want it permanently off. I'm pretty sure it's a malfunction, as there are three seperate TSBs which suggest there could be a malfunction for code P0446. I had it looked at by three seperate mechanics and none could figure out what's wrong. So is there a way to disable that code from causing the CEL to come on? Or would I need a new computer or something? I mean, it has to be turned off for emissions inspection.

Hah. Well, I guess that would work. Guess I didn't word my first post right, but I don't want to disable the CEL light completely, I just want it to turn off for this code, since it's malfunctioning. Is that not possible?

Dont know what kind of inspection you have in your area but if its the one where the plug into your car through the diagnostic connector, then taking the bulb out will cause you to fail. One of the tests they run is to make sure the chk. engine light works. If there is a fault in the system causing the code then the only way to pass will be to fix the problem. Replacing the computer wont change anything. It sounds like you need to find better techs. Any problem can be fixed, its just a matter of taking it to someone that knows what to look for and has the proper equipment and knowledge to check the system.

Yeah if you don't want to take out the bulb or you can't do it, then just find someone that can fix whatever it is.
