Gen5 Brakes

I have a 2005 Camry SE V6, and the brakes suck on it. It only has a little over 2,000 miles on it. Is there a brake pad, rotor or some other kind of upgrade that can help with the braking? Thanks in advance for your help.

BREMBO disc
green stuff pads, excellent braking but some ppl mentioned that it creates a lot of dust

Trd pads

or if you have some $$ to throw in, change out the whole braking system, from the disc, clipers (sp) to the brake line. looking at 600$ to 2k$

I live in the Baltimore/DC area and drive pretty agressive. I get very nervous slowing down from higher speeds. I have an Altima SE (97) that stops very well, and I never had a problem. I previously did a search on the internet about the problem looking for answers. I found this review that brought up the same problem http://cars.ign.com/articles/533/533119p1.html

Thanks for the advice. I love Brembo's performance for my motorcycle, but the cost is usually high. I'll start pricing some now.

If you guys want to spend a little more money on KICK ASS PADS, get Endless Pads. Those things BITE like no other. They're $100-$200 a set but they will last for a bit (they're not literally, Endless haha) and very little dust as well.

I wore out EBC greenstuff in 4K miles.

Try out Axxis Ultimates. Maybe upgrade to stainless steel brake lines.

Or if you want Rotora makes a Big Brake Kit. Money though.

The problem I ran into Axxis was that the EXCESSIVE amounts of dust that it made. It pissed me off cuz I had to clean my 2pc wheels ALL THE DAMN TIME. I won't go axxis again.

Cool

Hawk HPS line. Greatest pads ever.

Don't take this the wrong way.

Are you sure you think the brakes suck? or are you just not use to progressive travel and electronic brakes??? Take it up to 70mph and shove the pedal as hard to the floor board as you can and hold it in as hard as you can. then tell me if you think the brakes suck.

I hate EBC. There are better brake pads that last longer without making false claims.

Maybe I'm not use to progressive travel brakes. How do they suppose to feel? I just know I have to mash on brakes to come to a complete stop sometimes when in my previous car I didn't have to press so hard.

It's progressive... Exponential...

When you push the pedal slowly, you get a slow aplication of the brakes. This makes it MUUUUUCH easier to performance effortless, smoothe stops. The brakes will still fully apply, it just takes a long throw. You're more than likely more use to brakes where you push the pedal an inch, and you're body is slammed against the seat belt. That is more and more common. Don't be afraid... You don't even have to apply the brakes hard to get a lot of pressure on the pistons (what you're use to). If you *quickly* apply the brakes. They instantly firm up.

Try it... Go over 40mph (with noone behind you) and sowly apply the brake. Feel it jsut bearly push the pistons... You slow down gradually, very, very proportional to how far the pedal is. (There is little effort, along with that slower travel)

Now speed back up. Don't slam on the brakes

Just give a QUICK TAP. A 1/4" is enough so that those sons of bitches will be rock hard in less than a tenth of a second.

To re-assure yourslef, give a quick tap of about 3". Your head will be looking at the floor.

I still dare you... Get on a straight road with no traffic, and at the fastest speed you're comfortable traveling at; shove that son of a bitch on the floor! Hold it there... Your head will be bouncing off the steering wheel.

You see... The #1 problem when people are controlling ANYTHING is to OVERCONTROL.

They're progressive to keep me from wanting to kill people I ride with like the FMTSD phenominon...

The Female Manual Transmission Saturn Driver phenominon... There is not a FMTSD on EARTH that is capable of pulling off from a stop without making the greatest of fighter pilots deathly ill from the herky-jerky acceleration.

So basically you are saying I may not feel them at slow speeds, but they will work when I need them?
