Okay about 2 weeks ago I took my car to a shop for a timing belt change. Everything went smooth except that the bolt for the No 1 Timing Belt cover wont' come off, so they used heat to try to get the cover off... end up melting the cover, but thats alright they replaced it. They replaced the timing belt after that, and I had to take the car back the next day so they can put a new No 1 Timing Belt cover on.
So picked up the car after they had replaced the No 1 TB cover, and took it for a drive. Everything seems smooth... until few days after. I noticed a whining notice inside and outside the car, and after the car is warmed up you would hear this squealing noise. So I proceed to taking the car back to the shop today.
I left them the car for the day, and went back to pick it up later in the day. I didnt' receive a phone call from them, assuming everything is all taken care off. HOWEVER...
Went I got there, they told me there's trouble. (FUCK!!) Went back to see the car... the first thing I see is the crankshaft pulley had grind part of the edge of the oil pan off showing shiny metal. This can't be good I was thinking.

This is what the shop told me. It seems like the crankshaft pulley is installed too close to the oil pan causing the grinding of the oil pan. And the cause of the the crankshaft pulley being too close is because the crankshaft somehow itself is pushed IN (towards the engine, not the brakes/wheel direction), thats why causing the all those noises because the crankshaft pulley is misaligned with the other pulleys.
Right now, the shop is fabricating a spacer so it allows the pulley to be spaced out from the oil pan, and hopefully that will solve the problem.
But these are my questions
1) How the hell would the crankshaft suddenly shift INWARDS?
2) Is there a washer/spacer missing between the pulley and the crankshaft sprocket/oil pan?
3) If there isn't washer/spacer between there, would it have anything to do with the TB Guide? But the TB Guide isn't wide enough to compensate for the gap between the pulley and the crankshaft sprocket/oil pan.

4) Just last summer, I had my transmission replaced. Would it have anything to do when my transmission was replaced?
Man, I didn't expect anything like this!! I was just hoping for them telling me that the belt was on too tight thats all... but this is fucked up!!
I really really really appreciate any help...
THANK YOU
