The amount of turbolag depends on the size of the turbo. Superchargers have no lag because they are belt driven. Superchargers boost are limited to the smallest pulley size available, whereas a turbo, you can pretty much turn the boost up high.. but more boost = more lag down below

debating supercharger and turbos is like debating which color M&M is better. Both have pros and cons. If you like low end and fast response supercharger is for you if you want high head room and power turbo is the way.

Sorry.. what I should have said was.. bigger turbo.. more lag down below.... no? depending on how much boost your running
Lag is based on turbine size. Even large turbos can be fitted with small turbines. So noi matter how much boost you are running, a small turbo will still have less lag than a big one.
However at what point they reach full boost is dependant on how much psi they are running. It takes longer to reach 25psi than it does to reach 6psi

LOL Here we go again An other never ending debat ~ Hell ... I would add my opinion and hope it helps to end this discussion and you know what your asking for ~ If you want instead boost of HP when start, or turn alot, such as in Autocross, go for Super Charger; if you don't mind the boost to come a bit later, cause of the famous Turbo Lag due to the fact that you need to build up pressure with exhaust gas to turn the turbine, in order to increase ur air intake pressure, then go for Turbo Charger, when you would have better boost in high rev, ideally.
Best way to understand this is not to ask people I think, cause you will always here both sides. Go to www.howstuffworks.com and understand the difference yourself, then make up your mind according to what you are looking for. Either way, you gain power, since your asking around that means you did not experience the mod yourself. Never hurt to try new things if you have the cash. Then next time when some newb start another thread regarding same topic (won't be long), you know your stuff. Good luck.
Not necessarily. Many of those 10 second street cars you see are turboed. But I believe drag racing uses an s/c. So both can be fast. But for your own application, a s/c will be much harder to tune to be really really fast.
