My 05 Camry Le seems to need a little pursuading shifting from park to other gears. I mean I need to use more force to pull on it. But it shifts fine while it over gears and every once a while it it shift fine out of park. My first is that my brakes aren't letting the transmission engage. So I've tried depressing the brakes much harder, but does the same thing.
My second question is does anyone think Camry brakes are a little soft. My mazda 626 seems to have more braking power, or maybe it has something to do with ABS on the camry and not on the 626. It also requires more force to hold the car still while in reverse when not fully warmed up.

When you are shifting from park to gear are you parked on a steep inciline? if so that would be your problem

Generally, shifting from Park will be slightly tougher, as what your doing is disengaging the pin that holds car, so sometimes it can be a bit tough, depending on how it engaged.

I understand, however on my 97 Camry it was never this hard to shift from Park to Drive well it was a old car
I suppose it is like this since the car is so new? only have 700 miles on her
Have you ever brought it back to the dealer to check on it?
It does not do it anymore, but when I bought the car the dealer detailed it for me but they fucked up and didn't do it right on the drivers side and in the sun it looks scratched
I am taking in on wednesday so they can fix this, I will also bring up the shifting issue

I parked it on a incline on purpose but when they tried it, it didn't happen.
I tried it myself just to make sure and sure enough it didn't do it
The dealer said it is always like that when new, I have about 1600 miles on her now.
Thanks, I do hope that's the case. I have about 750 miles on mine. But some dealers (mechanics) would say just about anything to get you off their backs. My 01 4cyl 626 gets noisy even on slow acceleration and they claim it's normal. While my uncles 99 4cyl 626 is much quieter and has better acceleration.
