HEY boys and girls, heres my question.i have a 92 camry le its all white with blue interior.i just

recently purchased a factory spoiler from someone and of course it isnt painted the color i need.

so i have to go out and match my white paint. now i thought you could call up a toyota

dealership and give them the color code on the side of our drivers side.and they had ready

made paint for us to buy and use.but all they have when i called was touch up paint in a tube.

they reffered me to a couple of local auto shops by where i live and they were saying

something in regards to i have to bring the car in so they can take a picture of it and match the

paint.isnt that what the color code is for??im confused and im wondering where i can go and get

this white paint for my camry,so me and a friend of mine can paint my spoiler and also the

center tail light section from a 95-96 i bought to convery my rear to a 95-96 .help me

out everyone.i just want to get paint and spray these pieces and get them on my camry.

Toyota is pullin' your leg... talk to a mechanic about ordering you half a pint of paint. When I got my grill painted, the guy that did it for me called in the color code, got half a pint, and it came out perfect.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

No, they aren't bullshitting you. Your car was made in 1992- it's 13 years old. If they painted your spoiler or gave you paint that was made just using your color code, it won't match your car. It would be really shiny and bright white, which would have matched your car back in 1992.

On any car that more than a few years old, your paint is probably faded to some degree. They need see your car so they can determine how much the paint is faded, so they can match the paint accordingly.

You can paint your spoiler using just the paint code, but it won't look right. If you are going to go through all the trouble and expense of adding a spoiler and painting it, spend the extra dough and do it right.

Uh, depending on how you take care of your paint, it won't have really faded... on top of that, the paints that DO fade regardless of how much you take care of it are the ones on wayyy older cars. The new paints have polymers which avoid oxidation. My friend has a '97 Camry v6 xle, and he washes that thing twice a week... the paint looks the same as it did the day he took it home from the lot.

agreed... what you can do is go find an automotive paint store (where the body shops get their paint from if they dont mix it themselves). i know there is an auto paint shop in my town that my friends father owns. go there and bring the code, plus tell them its 13 years old, and they should be able to throw in a little something to make it look older. ya know, just adjust the hue a little. plus with them, you could go to the store, chat with them, have them mix you some paint, then actually try the paint on the car somewhere that nobody will see to make sure it matches, and if it doesnt, they can adjust the color with more or less of something.
