Hey 88LE

Hey I see in your signature you put your 3sfte is dead and that you have a 3sgte next question marked. Are you considering a 3sgte? If so you wanna sell your 3sfe engine? I need a spare engine to do my completel project rebuild. Right now I am just finishing my port and polish on my spare head and putting the TRD valve springs made for the 4age and milling the head and going to put the head on and just replace the rings and rod bearings. I am doing just that because my rings really really need replacing and I want to gain a little bit of power and so I don't want to jsut put the head on and end up blowing something out on the bottom end and since I need rings just replace them since I have the head off. Once I do that I am going to find a spare 3sfe engine I am going to tear it down and squeeze every ounce of power I can out of it. The whole project should be done I am thinking in 2004. I get done with school after this school year and then I am full time tech at toyota so I should be able to have money for the build up and plus I wont have to pay rent or anything at first because I will be living with my parents.

Hey, Welcome to TN! Sorry I can't answer your question about 88LE's 3S-FE. I don't know if he is going to try to salvage it or not. Where did you get the jap speed header and front strut bar. Oh BTW, nice Camry. I like the lowering job and the blue silicone hoses.

The jap speed header I bought off of eric d wong. He used to have a 2nd gen(might still have it) he now has a maxima V6 5 speed. I bought it from him for 120 bucks. The strut bar is no longer on my car I made it out of some cheap metal. When I put it on I had my head up my ass and thought it did something but it didn't. The lowering job is intrax springs and KYB struts. Thanks for welcoming me to toyotanation. I had no idea there was a forum for jsut toyotas. I have been on the Camryman forum for 4 years and knew about the teamsc3 forum for a while but jsut joined it about a month ago or so.

Yup my 3S-FE is dead. The rings are gone.

I've thought about rebuilding it, but I don't know what kinda condition the bottom end is in.

I'm seriously thinking about it. I can get the engine and tranny into the car no prob. What i'm not sure about is rewiring everything (its gunna be a nightmare).

My other choice is to swap in a JDM 3S-FE or buy Samson's 3S-GTE gen 2 and swap out the tranny.

Not sure what i'm gunna do yet.

If I end up junking it i'll let you know.

Where are you getting the rings and bearings from? Clevite?

When I just put the mild head and replace the rings and bearings I am using toyota ones. I work at toyota as a tech when I am not in school and my dad is a parts manager there so I get a very good discount on toyota and bearings are not going to give you any power increase the rings will but I am going to wait until I get my spare engine to get some molly rings to go with my je pistons that I will get made

Easier? If you can swap in a 3S-GE why not do a 3S-GTE? Either way you look at it you gotta pull the old engine out.

I've never even considered a 3S-GE. Its all about the 3S-GTE. "Boost OwNz j00!"

I'm gonna yank the engine out and tear down the block. I wanna see what kinda condition its in and ifs it rebuildable.

If its not rebuildable its either a JDM 3S-FE or 3S-GTE.

I need to borrow the engine hoist if you still have it. If not i'll see if Steve still has his.

No.

1. The head design is different. FE vs. GE.

2. Compression ratio, bore, and stroke. Not sure if this is different or not, i'll have to look into it and get back to ya.

I wish it was that simple.

Its not like a HonDuh were you can drop in a B18 into a Civic and have it running in a day.
