2nd Generation Tigthen up your shifter ??????

Although I cant complain... (since it has 212k on it) Im interested to see if I can any-way-at-all tighten up the shifter when going into 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th-Reverse????? Reverse is kinda annoying it likes to almost grind it seems like after you pop it into gear.. you can feel the car nudge just a smidge..so you gotta be uber-gentle with it...... Im not talking about the clutch pedal.. (although it started to make a weird "PSSSSHHHHHHH" noise recently about a month ago from within the cabin like som bov or something, some hose leak someplace??) Is there anyway I can tighten the shifter response?? would any sort of ebay shifters work ???? Im surprised to not find any aftermarket for the GEN2s........or atleast knock off crap.....can anyone point me at some other gen stuff that also fits the GEN2????

I really think its a decent car... ..just got rid of my pest problem too... I park outside in the county... long story..

your shifter bushings may be worn out, and I think you can get short shifters from a celica with the S52 transmission

The bushings from speed source are cheap... You can also shim the pivot bearing (inside the car where the stick is mounted) to tighten it up a bit. Make sure all your mounts and attachements are tight.

The loose-ness might actually be inside the tranny - and you can't do anything about that.
