What's with the AC..?

for some reason it sounds like the AC fan blowing the air into the car is jammed. It makes a loud humming noise and sounds like it is bogged down by something. Any ideas as to what this might be. This same exact thing has happened to my rolla as well. I can't figure out why its doing it, but every once in awhile it will just fix itself..

It may also be an indicator that the bearing in the fan motor is starting to go. You can just drop the whole assembly and look at the "squirel cage" for something jamming it. If nothing is jamming it and the nut holding it to the fan motor hasn't come loose, then the bearing in the motor is going. The assembly is usually located on the passenger side underneath the dash. I haven't done one on a generation 4 yet, but essentially you remove whatever is in the way to get to it. Then it's usually one electrical connector and 3 nuts (or bolts) holding it in. You will have to lay on your back underneath the passenger side of the dash with a light to do this. If something is jamming it, it will probably fall out with the whole assembly.

Good luck.

Mike

Mice chew wiring also! Set traps if needed.
