Gen5 Scion TC Intake Compatability

Hello everyone,

I've been searching, but haven't gotten a definite answer, and have not found many results using the search button (maybe wrong key words). I have heard a few comments from members here saying that the same items that fit the Scion TC should fit the 5th Gen Camry due to it being the same engine.

Is this true or not? Has it been tried?.

The main thing I was looking at was the K & N Typhoon Intake for the TC and some ground wires for the TC being adapted to my Camry. I'm looking for an intake and so far I've only found the Ingen and Weapon R short ram. Anybody have any other suggestions for intakes?

Before anyone starts bashing about gains and such I know the gains are minimal, but I like the deep sound an intake provides. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh and before I forget I'll gladly take suggestios/referrals as to where you have ordered your intakes. Hopefully find a trustworthy retailer at an awesome price.

The Scion install looks fairly complicated for an intake

I can't say for certain, but I would be a little surprised if it fit the camry without some major mods.

I was told that you could not even use a CAI from the 2004 camry on a 2005, I am not sure exactly why. I have a 2005 and just settled for the K&N drop in filter for now. No noise increase at all, and I couldn't really tell any performance increase either.

I'm 95% sure that the bracket mounts for a tC intake will be different from a Solara/Camry.

Although the Camry and tC has the same engine, they have different locations of brackets like CamryPunk have said. I can say this because my sister owns a tC and my friend has a gen5 Camry

Yes, and that is exactly why, if Toyota ever releases a supercharger for the tC, it will not be compatible with the Gen 5 Camry.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

well.....compatible in that case is simply going to be a matter of how much custom fabrication you're willing to do.... lol, throw enough money at it and i bet there's a way to stuff that tc supercharger in a gen 5

The thing is that the shaft and everything will bolt on to the BLOCK. The only real custom things you have to do with the s/c or turbo is the piping. Everything else should be fine.

that's totally true, but hood clearance might be an issue depending on the mounts, minor refabs though... but yeah, maybe some computer issues and the piping and it should be no problem really... I guess i made it sound more complicated than i meant to before...
