Engine getting better but check engine light is on for knock sensors :(

After redoing my engine up and down w/port polish everything, im still tuning the timing to this day. Monday i got the car started and it sounds better everyday i tune it, minus not having a resonator. My question is more of a concern than anything. I have a check engine light on with codes 5 paus 2 and 5 pause 5, both are knock sensor related and one of em has to do with ECM not gettin a signal or sumthing? How much will this affect my timing and overall, power?? and how much concern should i be having for this right now, they are both brand new sensors....so im told by the guy who put em in. If this IS a big problem on my new engine, is ther an easier way to go to them besides taking off the intake chamber AND manifold????

Cool

Nope you gotta take the stuff back off. It's either the wires or the sensors unless the ECU is damaged (not likely)

Start off checking the wires, but check the sensors while you're in there. I had the same problem.

Cool

I hacked the wiring at the ECU up really badly when I was installing the SMT-6 cause I cuoldn't get a good wiring diagrahm till I just trusted the haynes book.

Didn't become a problem till I tried using my water injection thing to inject nitro-methanol. I fixed it by perminantly re-doing the wiring, then replacing the knock sensor.

Knock sensors have no effect on engine performance, they are only to tell you there is a possible internal engine problem.

ummmm knock sensors will tell the ecu the engine is knocking and the ecu will cut timing, that is directly performance related...

Cool

You're asking an un-answerable question.
3hp, 5hp maybe 10-15 peak if it's pulling it at the HP peak.

just curious, b/c im not feeling the power i SHOULD be, most likely because of the fine tuning. I wish i could afford someone to tune it GOOD with all the modifications, i dont have all the tools for that

edit: it could also be bcause it has 50 miles on it too, still burning oil from the rings not setting fully yet, and im not pushing hard in fear of something bad happening
