Starting problems. Please help.

Hi everyone. I am new to this board. I have 99 Camry V6.
I am having problems with starting, some times car simply does not start, and other times it works great. When it does not start, I simply let it sit for few hours, and works great. This is driving me crazy, I got straned out of town with car that didn't want to start.

I "hot wired" starter and it turned. What elese can it be? Does anyone have wiring info of this car?

Car came with dealer antitheft system that I removed thinking that was at fault, but I still have problems.

Any information is welcome!
Thank you!

Give us some more details so we can help you out.

When you say you leave the car and it starts again fine?
Any sounds when you try to start?
Does this hppen when the engine is cold or hot or both?
What about weather conditions? rain, humid, dry?

Check some of the typical culprits;
-dead battery
-loose/corroded terminals
-bad sparkplug wires
-fouled spark plugs
-dead starter mtr
-weak alternator

My mechanic's wife's car wasnt starting, He said the air box needed cleaning. Try that. Maybe you need a new air filter.

More details

ok, I did a lot of testing, and this is what I have...
Starter relay and starter are fine. I tried placing in N and still nothing.
Key switch does not send enough power down a red wire (starter wire). It send about 2V with the key in, and when turn to starter it does not change.
I cleaned switch plates (part behind key cylinder) and still no go. So what I did I reviered a starter relay so I can send my own signal directly from battery and car starts.. Does anyone have any ideas, what could be wrong!

thanks!

It sounds like aweak alternator something is pullin to much so then ur alternator is being over drawn so it can't compensate for the lose of power. Thats why when u leave ur car running and then shut it off u can start it. Cuz what happens when ur drivin ur alternator is rechargin ur battery so then u can start it back up right away. It could also just be that something is stayin connected to the power supply ( the battery ) when ur car is off so when u want to start it back up u have trouble cuz there isn't enough power in the battery.
My advice is to take ur car down to Autozone.......... they have free alternator, battery, and starter testing............. FREE OF CHARGE........ so take advantage of it ........... they can find out what is causing ur starting problem.
