4th Generation 99 LE Lights Moding Questions

Regarding HID kits and Projectors... What are they? Which is better? Which is more expansive? I was going to just change to Silverstars bulbs 9003ST but I find 9005ST is 1900 lum, the brightest of all low beams. The FAQ only shown conversion from 9006 to 9005. Or do I want HID or something else rather than new halogen bulbs? I also notice the head lights FAQ and talked about the lens condition relating to reduction of new bulbs light output. In that case should I get new head light lens? If I am getting new anyways, depending on cost, do I want to just convert it to gen4.5 clear lens?

Edit: Oh plus xenon bulbs. Seems like HID kits uses xenon, or that's just a "xenon hid kit"?

Questions will be continued... thank you for all replies.

but quick answer

you need projectors to use hid or else you blind people, 9003 is a way diffrent base that 9005/9006 they wount mate. to use 9006 you need to switch to the gen4.5 lights.

true xenon bulbs are hid's. then there the gay ebay ones that just look nice and melt your wires.

true that. If you have the look of HID, its the custom route to retro-fitting them in your car. There are plug-n-play HID kits from , say ebay, that produces 12000000000k light output, but shitty lumens. surprizingly, my plug-n-play kit for my avalon was nice, no glare and kept its focal point. go figure.

I thought "projector" would act as some kind of light strengthener, so it actually weakens the light or focuses it or something? How are the costs and quality when comparing plan A (xenon hid kits and project and whatever i need) and plan B (gen4.5 head lamp conversion plus wires and bulbs)? I would assume that hid is better quality to go. It would probably be a better idea to maintain gen4's looks as it is as much as possible, but gen4.5 has clear head lights which is rare in gen4. Hum...

Head lights will also affect my front bumper choice when getting body kit too...

it can cost anywhere from 400 to 600 dollars depending on the OEM projector set up... http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ ... go there and spend some time reading up on everything you wanna know about HID kits, retrofit, and types of projectors. i read some stuff on there for 3 hours one night and learned so much.... take a look at it

Yeah it has crazy amount of information and read, thanks guys.

But according to the cost, I would think that getting clear lense for head lamp (new housing) and Silverstars would be much lower cost. 9005ST IS BRIGHTEST of all right?

Edit: Where is the link for that DIY Head Lamp clearing page? Where can I buy a pair of gen4 headlights to work on?
