4th Generation question about muffler

hi
i just uninstall my custom catback exhaust with resonator (pipe is 2.25" and muffler is magnaflow aluminized) and put back my stock pipe and muffler. i noticed that my car is faster.
why stock catback will feel faster? or i just think too much?

thanks

Actually it is faster. I have 2.25 piping with a performane exhaust and drove a camry with stock exhaust and the car got up way quicker than mines...

i dont believe that, because the more air flow goin through your exhaust system the better the acceleration/top speed/horsepower etc...so final conclusion is that aftermarket performance exhaust sytems are better. i felt a different speed and acceleration the minute i changed my 98 camrys exhaust

Exhaust piping diameter is VERY important. The LARGER the pipe.. (from stok) and the less restrictive, the LESS low end you will have and the more top end you will have. There is a LOT to flow dynamics in an exhaust system. Basically, the larger the diameter, and the lower the rpm, the quicker the exhaust will loose heat and flow. The larger diameter helps in the mid to upper RPM range. The stock piping is most likly the best for low to mid power with the stock engine. If you keep stock diameter, and make the system less restrictive, then you will gain good midrange.. a tad on the bottom and a fair amount on the top end.
Only if you port, polish and for forced induction, then you will reap more from the low end with larger piping. My suggestion, leave it alone, and remove the resonator, if you have a stock power plant. Stock = no porting, polishing, oversized valves, cams, turbo, S/C.. etc..

so you mean stick with stock pipe but remove resonator? and use performance exhaust?

thanks
