final oil filter relocation (56k warnin)

after about year i finaly got around to installing my oil filter relocation kit.

i used perma-cool universal oil filter relocation kit p/n 10695 (but any 3/4" x 16 kit would work)
you need one 2" 90 degree bracket (home depot)
and a knife that can cut hose
and a drill bit for mounting the braket
teflon tape

more or less just read the instructions that came with the kit. the only reason why it took me this long was

1. i'm lazy
2. the universal kit has fitting for all thread sized oil filter and the one i needed wasnt threaded good from the factory. so i bought a tap set from harbor freight and cleaned it out.

this took me about 30 min to do (adding in prep time from a year ago)

only thing is i dont like how close i have it to the exahust manfold but i'm hoping it's going to be fine and i'm gona check it like mad for the next few weeks.

uptop

on the block

where the filter sits

and the batteries in my camera died just as i was going to take a under shot.

Are there any ways you can protect the hoses like adding a heat shield? How about some aluminum tape on the hoses? that should help reflect some heat.

i didn't see a kit with the part number you listed, would this kit work instead?

I'm very interested in this, the stock oil filter is very small and I'd love to upgrade to two larger oil filters.

you can't keep your engine too clean

yup it will. perma-cool actualy doesnt recomend using the stock filter (even tho it does work) they recomend fram # PH8 or the largest one thats 3/4x16 you can get (when your in the part store you know which i'm talking about) you can use that larger filter and i belive it fits in no problem where the stock filter is but it doesnt fit where i relocated mine too.

Nice. What is the idea behind relocating it? Ease of access? I've seen many hi-po cars relocate them, but not in the way u did. Most of the time, i've seen them near the top of the engine so it's right there.

something like that. the 1mz filter location and the flow back valve keeps the filter full of oil so oil changes are a huge mess. with it in that location i when i change the oil it will drain out in to my pan.

Ahh yeah. I was wondering about that. I changed mine yesterday and the mess it makes is terrible. Dunno why Toyota designed it like that. Seems silly that it has to make so much mess whenever you take the oil filter off.
