here's something that i hope would generate alot of thought. has anyone ever thought of trying to make clear tail lights for thier car? i have a gen two camry and was just wondering if this shit is even possible? i'm thinking its not, but i figured i would see what everyone else thought.
I wanted to do this to mine also. Not a full clear one..but just make the indicator section clear.
No one makes them and there is nothin on ebay..so itll have to be custom.
Not sure how to do it..but i was goin to get a light from a wrecker and take it apart to see how its constructed.

sounds like a good idea, not sure if i took a taillight from my old car or not, i would have to look in my basement and search through car parts, i know i have the trunk part of one, just not sure if i have the body one. if not then i will go to my grandmothers and get one. keep the idea's commin
I'm working on one for my car...its a gen1, but probably the same basic concept. I'm not sure how I'm going to design it yet, but I got some old taillights from the junkyard and got the red and orange covers off. I have a big sheet of plexiglass I think I'm just going to cut to size and put it over the border of the taillight, and use LED's for lights.
I'll probably never finish it, but it is possible to take the red and orange parts off, the glue was really old so all I had to do was cut with a knife and pull, it came out fairly easily.
I seem to remember coming across a diy taillight clearing site at some point back when i was all about clear taillights and didn't know i could get them for my camry. from what i remember, the process involves aquiring the clear plastic, cutting the shape, using a heat gun to remove the old colored plastic and mold the clear to the curves to match the lense housing, then gluing them together. I'm sure that a search either on here or google would turn up something about that, hell, i even came across a site to make storm trooper armor....maybe even on one of those (god forbid i say it!!) honda sites.... don't worry, it's possible, not too difficult and the process is documented somewhere. i'll post the link if i can find it.
All clears look like crap. You'll get more laughs than props if you do it. I say do red/clears or leave them stock.
Yeah, exactly what i wanted to do. I thought the all clears would look terrible. Red/Clears would look hot as, really dress the 'ageing' yellow look up.

i've seen a detailed picture instruction site that shows you how to DIY clear lense by molding ... too much work ... plus illegal in my place (vancouver) ... i would smoke them tho ~
