Australia SV21 - Electrical problems

I have a 1988 Camry. It keeps destroying ignitors and breaking down. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening. It has gone through two ignitors in two months.

Where did you get them from and what brand are they? Cheap aftermarket parts are cheap for a reason.

Can't remember what brand the original ignitor was. The last one that died was apparently a pretty crappy brand, it only lasted 1 month. The mechanic charged me AU$136 for it. I think it was called Gold or Golden, something like that. The one that is in it now is a second hand toyota original. If it dies too I think I'll go straight to Toyota dealer. Or are there any good after market ignitors that are interchangeable?

Australia plug?

hey dude... $130 odd bucks is cheap... a toyota dealer wanted to charge me $400 for a geniune part for my V6 gen4...

But i found this out, the plug connecting the ignitor was loose, giving me a faulty ignitor code (along with o2 sensor)... i discovered the loose plug and simply held it tight with zip ties... hope that helps dude...

thanks browny,

the connection is ok. i wish it was that easy. something keeps causing them to internally combust. i'll just have to see how long this one lasts. the car usually gives a few warning breakdowns before it completely stops so i'll know if its going to happen
