3rd Generation Clutch Slipping

My 95 Camry 5S-FE is slipping pretty bad lately (the car has 155,000 kms)

any gear at WOT.

I dont plan on modding the engine, so what would you suggest for a good replacement (from what I can feel all I need is the friction plate, because the pressure plate and TOB feel fine.

Also, I haven't checked under the inpection plate yet, but since there's no wirring sound I'm going to assume the rear main seal is OK and that the slipping is just from age and use (and not oil contamination)

Moral of thread, because I dont plan to run any engine mods, what would you suggest to be a good clutch replacement?

Should I go with a stage 1 ACT, centerline, other aftermarket clutch, or stay Toyota OE?

you might just want to stay OE of some type ... but ... start with a clutch, do some exhaust work, etc, etc ...

if your clutch is slipping you will most likely need to have the other contact surfaces turned. ACT makes a descent clutch for your application, but the OEM clutch is very good too. I would say get the one of the 2 that costs the least

Thanks very much guys, I was unfortunately confident that the flywheel would need to be surfaced anyway (now that the clutch rivets have done their damage)

And i'm going to try hard to keep this car stock (i dont need TWO project cars )

But of course, if I need to replace worn/old parts, I might as well purchase aftermarket replacements (more often than not they are cheaper than OE anyway).. and i'm speaking about things that go with age, like the exhaust system.

You wont see me running a FI setup, standalone or piggy back management, and swapping out the cams for 240's or 272's anytime soon

Updage: I just got off the phone with my local Toyota Dealership. I get half-off the labour costs there.

Unfortunately they will Only install Toyota OE parts, so i'm looking at $412 CAD for the parts kit, and $400 CAD (well, only $200 CAD) for labour.

They wont install any aftermarket Clutch kit for me, they will only install toyota OE parts, not only for safety/insurance/warrantee purposes but for fitment quality.

Oh well, at least I wont have to bother with this for a few more years after this is all paid and done.

Well it's been a few weeks and I'm really happy with the new clutch, break-in was a smooth process and now she holds in all gears.
