Alright. So i searched around, got some scrambled info. Im going to piece together a quiet dual muffler system. Really quiet.
After the stock resonator I would weld a 2.5" pipe connecting to a Magnaflow 6" round muffler connecting to a single/dual 14" magnaflow muffler. have that piping bend to where the tips should be. Tips are magnaflow 15* slanted 2.5 to 3.5"
Do you think this will keep the sound down at low rpms and get slightly louder around 3500+ rpms? Not loud around then, but enough to know that there is an exhaust on the car.
Thanks

I think all that would make the car too quiet and rob you of too much power.
I have stock resonator going to a Magnaflow muffler and that bitch is too quiet for me! People rev at me and I rev back... they can't even hear me! On the freeway doing 80 (cruise control set) I can't hear it at all.. literally.
I was also thinking that. But quiet to people could be different to me. What I am trying to achieve is when I idle its like stock quiet, when I move up at a light and such its still quiet. That pisses me off to no end when I hear a loud ass muffler go nuts at like 1500 rpms. Also trying to achieve during normal driving it can get a little louder, but when im just cruising it goes back to pretty quiet at like 2k rpms. When I floor it and im trying to run through the gears, I want it to get louder, so thats around 4k-5k
Will taking out the stock resonator and keeping the rest above be around what Im looking for? Im trying to do this only once, i dont want to spend a lot on more welding jobs.
I want just the pipes showing if im going dual. Dont want the muffler bodies showing if im not using the stock cutout on the bumper.

sounds like it may be a good idea to talk to a local muffler shop. I am sure they may have some opinions on how to achieve what you are trying to acomplish. You would hate to spend all the time and money and then not get what you want. then you have to start over. I agree with Big Body also. It sounds like you are going to be getting a lot of restriction by having all of that, resonator, and then two mufflers. Doesnt seem worth it to me.

amen for quiet exhausts, mine is too loud for my tastes. I guess the real trick is to get that oh so desired performance while keeping it as quiet as possible. keep us updated.
I couldn't achieve what you wanted with my 92 V6. Most of the load occurs during 2000 rpm, that's when you get that nasty drone. Over 3500 rpm, you couldn't even hear the exhaust, it was all intake. When I dynoed my car and was standing by the door, at first you heard the exhaust, and then all the sound moved up to the engine over 3.5K.
I tried tuning a few times, ended up with 2 resonators, a baby muffler, and of course the regular one.
Silver Streak - Thats what im trying to avoid. That drone and buzz popping sound.
Remeber im not trying to get performance out of it. Just trying to maintain around the stock, also arent resonators not THAT restrictive? Wont the larger piping make up for that? Also will cahnging the cat do anything for the noise?
Please post up suggestions on what you think I should do. Oh yeah mufflers shops... ill get the oh my its a camry routine, lol.
Big Body LX - Yep,
Also, you think using those 18" tips will fit or no? If not use the small 4.5" tips? Remembe,r im not going to spend $40 on a shiny tip lol. I know the 18" will fit but the Y-style muffler will sit in the middle of the car or by the spare wheel well? Because if I bottom out will I hit the muffler? Yikes

Magnaflow is not known for the bumblebee sound

The 18" tips should work fine... look at an Acura CL with dual exhaust. The tips should be about the same size. About placement of the muffler, I'm not sure where they're going to place it... or even if it will fit near the middle of the car. But if they can it'll be a clean setup I think.
When you get it all done, see if you can post up a sound bite so we can hear it
I am a fan of keeping the exhaust minmally quiet if you aren't intending on racing or competeing......my 3" mufflers....dualies...loud...if it wasn't for the fact that I spend tons on the AV system...I would be tone deaf

Yeah thats why ive been pro-magnaflow because its good, reletivly cheaper. Ah I tried looking everywhere for Acura tips no luck because your right a lot of there cars use nice tips. Either way I think the 18" will work, but if they cut it down will they be able to convert it to the 1 inch smaller piping, because its 2.5" and then the rest is 3.5"
Will do, lots of good pics and a few videos.

Nah just around time driving and showing at car shows. Because my car is one of the more looked at in my city.. because its different.. not sure if they think its good or bad, dont care, I have seen 1 camry with aftermarket wheels, thats it.
===
So do you think buy the 2 18" tips, buy that exhaust, and see if I will need another muffler? or get it just incase or what?
How big is the stock resonator? Adding a bigger one will lower the sound yes?

Could I mount the stock resonator right after the cat? No probs with that? Or would the magnaflow one be a better choice?
Could I mount the new muffler in the old resonators place? Looks like it might be enough room, cant get under enough though.
Or if I do dual Resonators, think ther eis enough room? Looks like it.
Wondering basically if I can get all those parts in before it gets to my rear axles because right there is where it will make the bend to the tips.
2 tips place
Might be able to bend thats stock cutout with a heatgun or make a little block or something to fit in the spot. Only noticable if your under the car anyways.
So think it will all fit? I cant get a good measuremeant, anyone who can or had it on a lift with pics of the total underbody that would be awesome.
