3rd Generation Tranny Swap Question

Hey all. My 92 Gen3 is having so strange problems with its transmission. The overdrive kicks in at strange times. Like when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd the OD will kick in but only under hard exceleration. Anybody know what that is?

Also I am sick and tired of all the crap I have to put up with when it comes to auto trannys! I want to swap it for a manual. Has any one tried this yet? Anyone know how much this would cost me?

Thanks for your time.

Thnx for your lack of help, but don't worry cause I have already done this swap now, and it only cost me $1300.

Terrastrife: Yes thats right, on a properly working transmission OD doesn't kick on in second. Thats why I said I was having "strange problems". It turned out, as far as anyone could tell, that the transmission was dieing.

So for anyone that comes across this post and has similar transmission problems, you should have the thing checked by a OBD1 machine.

JetspeedCamry:
#1 Thread Revival: Bite me, I was updating this post so that if there was anyone that needed help with their swap they would see it and could ask me for help.

#2: If you had done it then YES you could have helped me, but you chose not to. You just told me to search the form, and as I tell everyone that says that, "I did search it, and all I found was worthless posts about people asking for help and no one helping them"

#3 Good for you, the 5speed is great isn't it? By the way, was that parts & labor or just parts?

Your a rude person.

It was $1000AUD($730USD), for both parts & labour.

It is normal for the overdrive to come on at 3rd gear. Mine does it too but mine wheni it comes on it will thump abit. It does the samething when you turn it off and on with the O/D swich. But when you turn the overdrive on and you have changed the oil it will shift without you knowing it.
