|
Yes you can, no it won't give you anything measurable.

u cant port the intake chamber more than it is
|
Funny... When I ported my intake manifold, It was 2lbs lighter... That's a lot of aluminum.

thats wer a lot of flow is decreased because of how small... they are ported
|
Your friend doesn't know much... Mine are SMALLER than stock, on stock cams and I picked up a huge amount of flow.

...they are ported for feul economy.
|
No, there is economy involved - the economy of cheaply casting them in sand and not cleaning them up.
If Toyota wanted it to be more economical, they would have used cam profiles like the MZ's that have 1/3-1/2 the power at low revs, and thus - use less fuel.

To port all that stuff will cost a lot of money.
|
Dremel, flexible drive shaft, $5 worth of grinding stones. - Everyone has that.

Probably cost $150 per horsepower.
|
More like $10-$35 per horsepower. Maybe 3-5 *peak* horsepower gain from it.

Port and polish the head with multiangle valve job first.
|
The valve job is the #2 least important thing to do in porting as long as the valves, and valve face are properly cleaned before reinstalling.

Let the shop port match the head to the intake manifold and match manifold to throttle body.
|
Port matching is the most useless crap of all time.

DIY and it will pay off only

Agreed - It's not worth it to DIY head porting unless you're changing valve parts / timing belt / head gasket. For the IM / TB, it's not worth it to pay someone else to do it.
Anyone that said it wouldn't do much, I agree with.
