I am finally going to bite the bullet and buy rims and tires in mid August (now that Im lowered) So after some searching and deliberation I submit to you what I think will be my final choice- the enkei evo 5 in bronze:
My question is concerning offset (Ill try not to beat a dead horse here- bear with me) The stock offset for the gen 3 (as stated in the camry FAQ) is +38mm and the bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3. These rims come in 17x7 with a 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern and a choice of two offsets- +35mm and +42mm. Which offset would suit my car best? If I understand offset correctly, the +42mm offset would fill the fenders more, whereas the +35 mm would move the rims in more- is this correct? I believe Allen has +42 mm offset with 18s on his coupe, but I just need to know if I am correct when I think that the higher offset will push the rims and tires out more.
As for tires, the resommended size in the camry FAQ is 215/50/17... so Ill probably go with that or something close... any recommendations for tires? right now Im considering yokohama AVS ES100s and Prada spec IIs, as well as a few of Toyo's offerings... but Ill get the rim questions out of the way before I make a decision on tires... Ive been reading reviews and doing research.
Sorry for the long post, help and opinions are welcome. thanks,
those are some nice rims....i would get chrome for my car though.
+42mm offset

If someone was really bored they could photoshop those on for me... heres a pic to work with:
As for tires, the toyos allen mentioned seem to have good reviews and a decent price... Im not sure about wear characteristics but Im still researching

42mm of course. The more they stick out, the safer they are (meaning they won't rub on the struts).
As for tires, if your going to a 7" rim from a 6" or 6.5" (whatever stock is), I would move up to 225mm wide tires. Better traction is always a plus. And wider tires look a lot nicer also.
