Passenger side a/c cooler than Driver's side???

hey gang,

i've performed a pretty good search of the site but couldn't find anything about this...

when i have the a/c engaged, the driver's side vents in my gen3 blow warm/outside temperature air but the passenger side vents are about 10 degrees cooler...

the really weird thing is the center console vents are blowing different temperatures... the drivers side is warmer than the passenger side. any help?

its like i have dual climate control but i don't.

are your vents open whe you're turning out the a/c? i noticed that when you have them open, air gets in unevenly and at different temps.

yes... i think.

if i'm understanding you correctly, i have the system on fresh air and not recirculate... is this really whats causing the temperature differential?

anyone else have any guesses?

your best bet is to have the system on recirculate. that way you have colder air going through and around.

does the force of the air feel the same on both sides? I wonder if you could have some kind of blockage in the duct work. When you run on fresh air all the time you can get leaves and things into the evaprotaro box and the fan then possibly get into the duct work in the dash. Especially if you live in a area with lots of trees. I havent had that problem with my camry but my 95 Pathfinder was terrible about it. would clog the drain for the evaporator and leak water all ove rthe floor or splash bck itno the fan and make hella noise. Just an idea.

Yeah, I'd agree with the last post. Either that or your dual-climate zone button is on... Sounds like a duct blockage though. How you check that? I don't think I want to know IF it involves removing dashboard in the instructions.

there isnt a good explanation for this unless the drivers side duct is slightly disconnected from the left vent. it is easy for that to happen if you are doing wiring under there or something...

I know this is going back a while, but did you ever work out what the issue is?

The reason I ask is because my parents returned from a trip in there 95 Camry and mentioned the A/C didn't seem to be very cold. I put a thermometer in it and the centre console vents that are right next to each other have about a 8 degrees celcius difference.

The drivers centre vent was getting to about 8.5 celcius and the passenger one would not go below 15.9 degrees celcius.

The car is fitted with climate control but I looked inside both centre vents with a torch and the ducts go for about 15cm then open into one area above the evaporator, so it's definately not dual zone. It has got me stuffed. All I can think of is maybe a small blockage in the evaporator and it's only getting cold on one side. The only other thing I can put it down to, is that it has always been like this but the system may have lost gas and brought the temps up higher, which then caused me to stuff around with the thermometer.

You said yours was drivers side being warmer, mine is actually passenger side warmer although I am from Australia so it is a right hand drive. Anotherwords sitting in the car it is the leftmost centre vent that has the warmer air.

Thanks for any assistance.

Any help at all would be appreciated from anyone else that may have an idea.
