USA transmission flush

ok So i have an 03 Camry (4 cylinder) with about 22k miles on it. I checked my transmission fluid today and it is dark brown, not a good sign. I already have to change my transmission fluid at such low mileage, that makes me mad that i have to do it so soon.

Anyway, what is your guys opinion on this, should I get the transmission flush or just change the fluid?

Also, does it matter where I get the transmission fluid changed, or should i get it done at the toyota dealer.

Is the toyota transmission as sensitive as the honda/acura ones where they need to have only a certain type of trans. fluid?

i would do it at a toyota dealer.

get a flush done
technically, it should not turn brown at 22k.

mine was like 75 k and it looks new, but i did a flush anyway.

cost is about $99 for a flush.
go to toyota.com and find a dealer from there, then go print a coupon.

is doing a flush a good idea though? Beeccause i have an acura and they do not recommend doing flushes, so I wonder if Toyota is the same way about their transmissions. Because with acura, i've heard of horror stories that when they got a flush (and these are people with low mileage too, less than 50k) that after the flush, a few thousand miles later, their tranny dies.

If anything i will at least do a tranny fluid change

if you have hi mileage since your last flush ie 100k it may be better to not do it...i recently had mine done after approx 80k and although its probably fine, seems like shifint is a bit weird now, but i dunno.. if you do it, do it often.

I just did transimission flush a couple of days ago at my local dealer. The regular price is $129.99. I had a coupon with me says $89.95. Finally I paid $95. This include flush and 18.5qt fluid. My local Exhaust pro has a coupon says $79.95 up to 12 qts of fluid. Since there is only $10 difference, I chose the dealer. I didn't feel anything different after the flush.

Why shouldn't it, because Toyota says so?
Toyota is up the same creek GM has been with their dex-cool's. They GROSSLY over-rate the lifespan of their coolant. That crap doesn't last any longer than generic green coolant.

lol.... Hey, hey, hey.. Comparing GM and Toyota? That's like comparing bat droppings to a Lexus LS430... If you had said "Honduh", I would have felt slightly better. As far as trannies and Honda Motors, didnt' they recall a couple of auto trans in '04? Although, I think that was 'cuz they didn't fill the trannies to proper level.

yeah they did recall a few of them in the early 04 models. Well i'll be going in to get either a change or a flush done eventually, i have a $75 credit to any service there at toyota dealership so i'll be using that.

Also at 22k miles, is there any other maintenance service that would be worth looking into while i'm at the dealership?

22K on the Odo? Hmmm.. besides typical oil changes.. Checking the air filter element? The timing belt is at what, 45, 50K? (not sure) Ummm... Brake wear? Maybe a tire rotation. Steering alignment. Check your boots. All your fluids topped off. Maybe a nice little peek at the coolant just to make sure all is well. I forget the interval for spark plugs. That's all that comes to mind at the moment.. If I find the stupid Toyota brochure on what they say should be replaced or inspected, I'll write it up.

I still love you though Toyota...

toyota says so and from my experience with a gen3 and gen4. i flushed my gen4 at 75k and it still looks clean.
so it depends on case to case.

Accord 00 or around that period also had a recall on their tranny. apparently, it was replaced by honda for free. 2 of my friends got a honda when it first came out and they got it fixed

Remeber though that GM and Toyota have been working together for years. The Pontiac Vibe is a Matrix, we all know abut Geo, and did you know the Caviler was sold in Japan as a Toyota?

As far as I know, there are no recalls for the 03 Toyota Camry right?

And why on earth would such a respectable company like Toyota work with any American car company
