KYB GR2 Struts

I recently bought some new struts for my 99 camry. It has been riding like a boat for about 2 years now and I finally forced myself to buy some new ones. I haven't put them on yet but I was wondering if anyone else out there has used the KYB GR2's on their Camry and how they turned out.

Also let me know if you've replaced them with other struts as well and you think the GR2's suck!

4th Generation

I have had KYB GR-2 on my 1999 V6 Camry for about 4000mi now... with stock springs.
The first month I had them, I thought they were pretty good, a huge improvement over the stock suspension - though that was pretty shot when I replaced it.
I am not much of a fan of them anymore... and would not recommend them if you are interested in performance. If you want to return the ride quality to like new stock, then I'd say KYB is for you.
Low speed damping is pretty bad, my car bottoms out in the front over speed bumps.
There is more front end dive than I would like.
High speed damping is a little better, but quick maneuvers will keep you concentrating because the cars going to be bouncing side to side or plowing... even with a set of Whiteline sway bars.
If I wasn't poor I'd get lowering springs... and would have liked to get tokico struts if I was better educated before my KYB purchase.

Cut the ones you got on now! Nah, just kidding. Yeah, my front shocks were toast (Front right, passenger side to be exact) I got some "Gabriel" shocks and it's noticebly smoother over bumps but it doesn't feel stiff enough for me. I haven't done any "sporty" driving but the little I did drive, the car felt soft but toooooo soft. I don't want to feel every little crack and crevice of the asphalt but the thing just drops a bit too much under 60 mph turns. 47.47 a shock, it's not bad. But, if I wasn't poor (pun intended) I'd get the Tokico shocks.

Do they have coilovers for Gen3 Cams? The guy at the Autozone (cuz they are ASE and Toyota Specialists, LOL!) got all bezerk when I asked if they had "coilovers". He said something about some "pop the top of the strut right off" or something to that effect and did the typical "popped top" movement with his hands... Anyways, what's the dealio? I need everything... Write as much as you want 'cuz I read quick
