3rd Generation brake issues.... please help

ok, my brakes are getting on my nerves. They are squealing like two little piggies on their honeymoon. I have a v6 gen3. I replace the rotors with brembo cross drilled, cadium plated rotors and used the ceramic pdr brake pads recommended by brembo. The still squeelled so I replaced the front clips. Still squealing, I went and tried to replace the rear fitting clips. Toyota dealer couldnt find the part and were useless. Finally found it in a small store nearby. It STILL squeaks!!! Although, it is less. I dont want to replace the calipers because of $$$, but if thats the problem then Ihave to do it. Let me know what you think about this. Practically everything has been replaced. Thanks for the help!

Cool

It's just a bad set of pads, or a set that's prone to squeaking. A lot of the harder pads will squeak after being used hard until they wear a little bit.

Replacing the calipers wouldn't help.

Lastly - check the brake wear indicator against the pad left. A lot of times pads will wear abnormally quickly causing this problem.

I had a similar problem but it was on a stock setup on my Gen 3. I bought a can of "brake quiet" and took out the anti-squeal shims and sprayed 'em as directed by brake quiet spray and I put it back together. After that.. It was sweet bliss...

do not forget to put caliper grease on the pads/calipers before installing cos that helps in preventing the squaking and squealing.

sounds like you either

1. glazed the pads/rotors

2. need to apply the disc brake quiet stuff to the back of the pad

3. have the wear indicator in wrong

it depends on the exact sound and when it makes it most.

If they are glazed you can take some mild sandpaper and sand in a light circular motion all around the surface to rough them up (don't sand deep, just light surface) You can also do the same to the pads, or just replace them (the akebono pro ceramic never gave me any problems on my gen 3, oem pad)

I had a similar setup on my 94 Nissan Altima (cross drilled/slotted brembo rotors with PBR brake pads). The combination of the rotors + non-ceramic brake pads gave it that "extra noise" during low speed (e.g. 25 mph) driving or braking. However, I got used to the "squealing" noise since the braking improved overall.

shims

I just replaced my 1994's front rotors and breaks. I used ceramic pads and did not use the shims provided but did put break quiet on the back of the pads. Getting ready for a test drive and will let you know. I was not sure what the shims were for but the pads I took of did not have the shims in place so I left them off with the new pads. Hope everything works.
