rear main seal

hey guys, how necessary is it to replace the rear main seal? I believe it's the seal near the flywheel for the manual trannys. The reason i ask is, this guy is replacing the clutch for me and he asked me if i wanted to replace the rear main seal. I never asked if it was necessary but i didn't think negatively of it. Well my car has about 125,000 miles on it. it's a 2000 5sfe camry. Should i pay extra to get it changed?

definately get it changed, will save you a big headache if it DOES start leaking later and you have to go pulling the engine or tranny out again. BTW the autos have a rear main seal too

Cool

Depends how bad the leak is.

If it's weaping, it's simply a little bit of oil drizzling directly on the exhaust, and dirtying up the bottom of the entire engine.
If it's LEAKING... hahahahaha...(dry humor) Get it fixed. Good luck with that! =)
