Basically, that's the idea. Unless they're smart and they buy the socket for it, you're screwed. I have those wheels locks on my FX35. Quite handy because I don't want anybody stealing my 20"s. 20" rims and wheels are hella expensive.
Of course, I'll be buying some wheel locks as well once I get some nice rims.
^ for sure, but it's the same thing with an alarm....if they want stuff from your car, an alarm won't stop them either.
but it's about your car and another car with nice rims sitting next to each other, and yours having locks, that will make the thiefs go for the other car just because it's less effort and hassle

wheel locks and an alarm serve a similar purpose. it's not as much to protect but it's more of a delay and discouragement to a thief. say you were a thieft and found some nice rims, would you spend a long time trying to bang the lock off or move on and find an easier job? the locks and alarms are simply a distraction to make people avoid your car.
